I took my first wedding in Plymouth, England in 1985 at the age of 16, I had a unique fun approach to my wedding photography that instantly put people at ease. Those were the days of traditional medium format photography where you actually took the picture, and every picture counted, these days we live in a digital society, where fortunately we can take a lot more pictures, but there are many people calling themselves wedding photographers that basically have all the gear but no idea, setting the camera to programme mode and hoping for the best..

From 1985 - 1998 The name of Golden Memories Photography became a house hold name. I had 2 photographers assisting me and was doing upto 3 weddings in one day. I reverted to using my name Dave Gartland Photography as it covered a wider spectrum of photography, and since emigrating to Adelaide in 2005 and launching Adelaide Pictures website, I have continued using my name via this site. My intention at some stage would be to open a Gallery showcasing my work as well as other young photographers.

My popularity was a joint effort of my personality, enjoyment of working with people, and more importantly giving the clients what they actually wanted in a service, stripping all the added expense to an essential service. This is our Essential Gold package, where essentially you need a professional photographer to capture your special day, and then obviously you need to view your images. All the added extras you can choose after the wedding, if you so desire, I feel strongly about the extortionate prices that are being charged these days, especially as many of the pictures these days are computer generated works of art. I use the PC to edit crop and remove the odd un necessary object, that could`nt be helped on the day, also creating the modern picture within picture approach through our latest wedding portfolio software, in other words a genuine account of your special day.

Todays images by many photographers, and not just in the wedding industry, are results of how clever they are with the PC, however as you can see by these shots, you still have to be able to compose the picture and make the picture bring a smile to your face when you see it, it has to look like the fun and informal approach just naturally happened, Photoshop, Corel draw etc can not do this.
